Will Pepper Spray Work On Dogs?

While pepper spray will work effectively on animals, it is not recommended that you use them, if possible. Of course, if an animal is attacking you, by all means, use whatever self defense tool you have available. The spray is quite strong and it could be considered animal cruelty, by law enforcement agencies. It is recommended that you use a slightly less pungent Dog Repellent Spray, to ward off attacking dogs.

If A Child Gets Ahold Of A Pepper Spray, How Easy Is It To Discharge?

You will need to keep all dispensers of pepper sprays away from small children. As with any dangerous product, a child is curious and they always seem to find a way to figure things out, so they must be kept out of their hands. There is a safety mechanism on the spray button area, but it can be easily maneuvered, to allow for quick action, in case it is needed in an emergency situation.

What Are The Active Ingredients?

Pepper Shot Pepper Sprays are made with 10% Oleo Resin Capsicum and include an identifying dye, to help catch your perpetrator later, if he gets away.

Does Pepper Spray Expire?

The hot oils from a pepper spray do not expire, and will still cause burning and coughing, if inhaled, but the aerosol in the can, will eventually leak out, after being exposed to hot and cold temperatures and changes in altitude. Just like the tires on your car, the air contracts and exands. Most pepper sprays have a shelf life of around 2 years.

As with any self defense product, you should check it regularly to make sure it is in proper working order. You don't want it to fail when you need it most. Don a pair of rubber gloves and take the can of spray outside, in a large open area. Stand downwind, with your arm fully extended and give the pepper spray a quick one second burst. If it drizzles out, it is time to replace. If it sprays out, you still have plenty of spray left and can carry it with confidence, knowing it will work when you need it.

Can Pepper Spray Go In As Checked Luggage On An Airline?

You should check with the TSA rules, as they change regularly. You may be able to take one of the smaller 1/2 oz size cans as checked luggage, but do remember that the can is under pressure and with the high altitudes that a plane takes, the can may be able to burst under the greater air pressure. It is best to leave the pepper spray home, while traveling on an airplane.

Is There Any Problem With These Pepper Sprays Leaking?

While you should decide which pepper spray is best for you, leaking should not be an issue. The Lipstick and Pepper Pens come with an enclosed cap that secures the spray nozzle completely. Our Key chain and canister type pepper sprays have a twist type top nozzle, which locks into place, or you can purchase a pepper spray in a leatherette holster, which completely covers the top of the canister as well.

Will The Quick Release Key Ring End Up Releasing With Every Day Use, Or If Bumped Into Things?

The Quick Release Key Chain Pepper Sprays will need a very good tug to pull off your purse or belt loop. Even though they say quick release, they don't just drop off at every bump and snag. They are meant to hang securely on to your person, and only release, when you pull down hard on it, in an emergency situation.

Does It Have A Safety Lock That Must Be Unlocked Before Being Able To Spray It?

Yes, there it is a simple twist of the top on the canister type pepper sprays, which can be maneuvered easily with a quick flick of your thumb. We also carry a flip top canister as well, which can also be quickly deployed with a one hand motion. These pepper sprays are designed to stay closed when you do not need them, in every day wear and tear, but are ready to arm easily, in case of an emergency situation. As with any self defense product, you should practice deploying the device and understand completely how it works and how to maintain it properly.

Can Pepper Spray Be Shipped Out Of The Country?

No, we do not ship pepper spray any where outside of the United States.

How Far Will Pepper Spray Shoot?

A 1/2 oz canister of pepper spray will shoot 6 to 8 feet. A 2 oz canister will spray 10 to 15 feet, and the larger 4 oz can of pepper spray will stream a distance of 15 to 18 feet. The large 9 oz bear spray will send out a shot of spray up to 20 feet and deplete the canister in 9 seconds. Decide which pepper spray is best for you and place a variety of sizes of sprays around your house and in your vehicle. In some instances a smaller can is easier to carry and use in close range circumstances, while the larger and farther spraying canisters will have a greater advantage while outdoors, or against vicious animals.
