Most unlawful entries into a home, is to burglarize. According to The Bureau of Justice Statistics:

Burglary is defined as unlawful or forcible entry or attempted entry of a residence. This crime usually, but not always, involves theft. The illegal entry may be by force, such as breaking a window or slashing a screen, or may be without force by entering through an unlocked door or an open window. As long as the person entering has no legal right to be present in the structure a burglary has occurred. Furthermore, the structure need not be the house itself for a burglary to take place; illegal entry of a garage, shed, or any other structure on the premises also constitutes household burglary. If breaking and entering occurs in a hotel or vacation residence, it is still classified as a burglary for the household whose member or members were staying there at the time the entry occurred.

There are four types of burglary:

  • Completed burglary - A form of burglary in which a person who has no legal right to be present in the structure successfully gains entry to a residence, by use of force, or without force.
  • Forcible entry - A form of completed burglary in which force is used to gain entry to a residence. Some examples include breaking a window or slashing a screen.
  • Unlawful entry without force - A form of completed burglary committed by someone having no legal right to be on the premises, even though no force is used.
  • Attempted forcible entry - A form of burglary in which force is used in an attempt to gain entry.

Forced entry and burglary is on the rise. You need to find new and creative ways ot protect your family, and the things you worked so hard for. With the increase in drug use, thieves are gettting more and more desperate for their next fix, and will do anything to get it.

Protecting your home with a whole house security system is your best defense, but many people cannot afford to take such measures, or live in apartments or college dorms, making it difficult or impossible to install.

There are many do-it-yourself, low cost options, like this easy to use Door Stop Siren, that can fill your security needs.

How Long Do The Batteries Last?

Since you are net setting off the alarm on a regular basis, the 9 volt battery will last months, perhaps even more than a year. It is much like a smoke detector, which does need to be tested every few months, but has very little electric draw on the batteries.

Does This Door Wedge Alarm Work On Carpet?

These amazing door alarms will work on carpet or hard floors. There is a rubberized backing on the bottom, which will stick to the floor and stop the door from opening. A carpeted floor will open slightly more than a tiled, or wood floor, but the wedge will still hook on the door, causing a loud siren to alert you some one has attempted to enter your living space, giving you time to reach for your fire arm, or other non lethal self protection device, or call for help.

Is The Sound Adjustable On These Door Alarms?

The door stop siren will emit a loud 120 decibel alarm, which is not adjustatble. It is meant to alert you, or your neighbors of an intrusion, plus scare away any would be intruder. Burglars do not like noise or lights, to attract any attention as to their intentions. You can adjust the sensitivity setting on the device to make it less sensitive to the touch.

Can A Door Stop Alarm Be Taken On An Airplane?

These door stop sirens can be taken anywhere. They are portable, lightweight and easy to carry. There are no restrictions for carrying on an airplane, but it is recommended that you remove the 9 volt battery, while traveling, to prevent the siren from accidentally becomming engaged. Make sure the switch is in the Off position, also.

Will It Work On A Door With A 1 Ince Gap?

The Door Stop Siren is 1 1/2 inch high, so it will work effectively on a door with a 1 inch gap.

Does It Stop On Its Own, Once Activated, Or Does Someone Have To Switch It Off?

The Off switch will have to be manually turned off, in order to deactivate the loud 120 decibel siren, or wait for trhe battery to die, if you are not in the immediate area, when it goes off. The alarm will not deactivate on its own.

Does The Product Come With A Battery?

No, You will have to provide your own 9 volt battery to activate these door stop sirens. They are readily available in any drug store, grocery store, or your local hardware store.
