What Is a Survival Kit?

My first suggestion is to make a simple Survival Kit. A survival kit is simply gear you need to survive stored in a safe and easy to reach place. Perhaps you might make several kits to place in strategic areas around your home, plus in your car or garage.

My first things that I would include are definitely bottled water, a knife, solar blanket, matches (in a water proof container), a hand winding flashlight (or a nice LED flashlights, with plenty of fresh batteries), and non perishable foods. Next, I would add a medical first aid kit. You can make your own, but it is probably simpler to just head to you local big box store and grab a good prepackaged one. They are relatively cheap and include the basics.

Throw in a tarp, rain poncho, and radio, and I would say you are complete for most natural emergency situations that most of us would ever encounter, like snow storms, earth quakes, tornadoes and just a general long term power outage. If you want to go a bit more extreme, add a long paracord, gas mask and don’t forget the good old duct tape!

Every member of your family should be aware of where these kits are located, know how to use the items included and leave them alone, unless needed for an actual emergency.

What kind of Survival Kit would a Hiker need?

Hikers, Campers and Hunters are all out discovering nature and its’ wonderful beauty, but all don’t always realize the natural dangers that exist when out for an afternoon walk. You may encounter a dangerous wild animal, like a bear or snake. Most animals in the wild will run, but occasionally you will find one that is not too amused that you have ventured into their home turf. You must be prepared to protect yourself with a good Bear Spray, Knife to remove venom, or Paracord to fashion a tourniquet.

You must always be on the lookout for potential dangers, while enjoying your trek. Safety comes before beauty! Anyone out on a trek wants to travel light, so there are many Survival products that are lightweight and easy to carry, to make your trip comfortable, but safe. Most people carry their Survival Items in a sack, called a Bug Bag, while many Survival Items can be carried on key chains or belt loops.

For the more extreme campers and hikers, I would suggest these essential hiking items for your Bug Bag:

*Water

*Non Perishable foods, like nuts and raisins

*First Aid Kit

*Tarp

*Paracord

*Compass and Map

*Matches in a Dry Waterproof Container

*A good Survival Knife

Are You Serious Mountain Hiker?

I would add a mirror, whistle, fire starter and blanket. You know what you need, just don’t forget the basics. Serious and ultra extreme wilderness trekkers have usually been in the woods a lot. Just bring the type and amount of gear necessary for your current adventure and know how to use all the gear your have brought

You’ve got to be kidding, Average People don’t really need Survival Gear, Right?

WRONG!

You never know when you may find yourself in some sort of survival situation. Your car breaks down on a remote road, you go off the road into a ravine, you are injured and no one sees you there. You go for a walk in the woods and lose your way, or lose your party. A hurricane or earthquake collapses your house. Floods, tornadoes, dog bites, snake bites, even a simple lengthy power outage. There are hundreds of circumstances where you will need to survive.

Keep flares in your vehicle, bottled water, extra clothing, a blanket, compass and first aid kit. Almost all of us drive a car and drive through all kinds of inclement weather conditions, such as Dust storms, Ice storms, and Snow storms. What would you do if you were stuck for 2 days on the interstate, due to a sudden snow storm. Yes, it happens to our northern neighbors every year. People get stranded and do not have enough gas in their car to keep it running, or the car gets buried and you cannot keep it running, due to snow build up and lack of enough air to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. These storms come up suddenly, and there isn’t always enough warning to get home safely.

Here is where you will find some very interesting and useful, extreme survival gear. We have many light weight products that could save your life, in case of an emergency. Check out the small and compact Flint Striker, an essential hiking and camping tool. Also, we carry several paracord items, including a Paracord Bracelet, Paracord Camo Belt, Paracord Grenade Survival Kit and a Paracord Rifle Sling. Paracord is a strong rope that has thousands of uses for every day campers, or for emergency situations. These Paracord products are specially braided to make carrying easy, but unwind quickly. Try one and see for yourself!

Do you need a Water Filter, Solar Oven or Survival Knife? These are all essential hiking items, that could mean the difference between life and death. This may sound extreme and a bit over kill to many, but there have been hundreds of instances where things have gone awry and hikers have found themselves in some unsavory area, and need to survive. When lost, it may take several days for searchers to find you, so make sure you are prepared.

Perhaps you aren't exactly the hunting or camping type. You could still benefit from a Tactical Pen. We have many styles to choose from to suit your needs. Don't get caught in a car without one, it may save your life! You will be amazed at how many useful items you can find here for safety and survival on the go.
